RAGBRAI 2026 Recovery

Ride Hard.
Recover Smarter.

Sports massage, assisted stretching, and physical recovery built to keep you pedaling well across Iowa.

The Demands of the Saddle

Survive the saddle.
Enjoy the miles.

RAGBRAI is one of the most demanding weeks of the year. Nearly 400 miles, more than 16,000 feet of climbing, long days on the bike, and seven straight days of asking your body to keep going.

The miles add up quickly. Tight hips. Aching backs. Heavy legs. Stiff necks. Sore shoulders. For many riders, structured recovery becomes the difference between enjoying the ride and simply surviving it.

Stoik Body Co. is bringing performance-focused recovery directly to the route with sports massage, assisted stretching, compression therapy, cupping, and mobility services designed specifically for active bodies. Whether you’re riding your first RAGBRAI or your twentieth, our goal is simple: help you recover better so you can ride better.

Biomechanical Perspective

Recovery is Training.

Most riders spend months preparing for RAGBRAI. They build mileage, improve endurance, dial in nutrition, and tune their equipment.

Very few spend the same amount of time thinking about recovery.

The reality is that cycling places your body in the same static, compressed position for hours at a time. Hip flexors tighten. Hamstrings become restricted. The upper back and shoulders work overtime. The neck absorbs constant road tension. Day after day, those small stresses accumulate.

Recovery isn't luxury.
It's maintenance.

We do not offer generic "spa style" rub-downs. Every service we provide is focused on improving physical mobility, reducing muscle restrictions, supporting local circulation, and helping riders feel capable between stages.

Our Standard of Practice
Tent Services

RAGBRAI Recovery Menu

Available in 10, 15, 20, and 30-minute formats depending on rider demand and daily stop logistics. First-come, first-served.

Biomechanical Sports Massage

Designed to address the areas cyclists strain most: hips, glutes, low back, quads, hamstrings, calves, shoulders, and neck. Targeted hands-on treatment helps reduce soreness, restore movement quality, and improve comfort after long hours in the saddle.

Assisted PNF Stretching

Focuses on restoring joint ranges and relieving restricted muscle tension from repetitive riding positions. Highly recommended for cyclists experiencing severe tightness in the hip flexors, hamstrings, calves, and lower back.

Compression Boot Therapy

Uses sequential compression boots to flush out metabolic waste, reduce swelling, and promote active circulation. A simple but highly effective option to make heavy, fatigued legs feel light and ready for the next morning’s climb.

Myofascial Cupping & IASTM

Targeted trigger point cupping and instrument-assisted soft tissue work to release stubborn fascial restrictions and break down localized muscle knots in compromised areas.

Kick-Ass Massage Stop - RAGBRAI Photo Op Cutout
Route Mascot

Follow The Mule.

You’ll know you’ve found us when you see the mule. Our official "Kick-Ass Massage Stop" cutout has become the landmark of our RAGBRAI recovery tent. Stop by, grab a photo with your crew, tag us, and step inside to give your body the relief it has earned.

"After fifty miles, your legs are talking."

"After seventy-five miles, they’re negotiating."

"After one hundred miles, they’re filing complaints."

That's usually when the mule starts making a lot of sense.

Route Challenges

Common Problems We See

By the middle of the week, the accumulation of miles shows up in very predictable patterns. We target the mechanical sources of these issues.

Saddle Fatigue & Hip Flexors

Constant pelvic flexion leads to severe hip flexor shortening and glute inhibition. We use Positional Releases to open the front of your hips.

Low-Back Stiffness

Prolonged aerodynamic or riding posture strains the erector muscles. Targeted compression relaxes the lumbar spine.

Calf & Hamstring Restriction

Repetitive pedaling limits full ankle articulation and tightens calves. Assisted stretching restores range of motion.

Neck & Shoulder Tension

Supporting your upper torso while looking up at the road causes suboccipital and trapezius fatigue. Soft tissue work targets these spots.

Heavy Quad Soreness

Lactic and metabolic buildup from 16,000+ ft of climbing. Compression boot sessions speed up muscle drainage.

Nervous System Fatigue

Days under extreme heat and effort trigger a constant fight-or-flight response. Our recovery methods down-regulate the nervous system.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

No. All services are offered on a walk-up basis. Simply stop by the Stoik tent at any of our route stops and we'll get you into the next available opening.
Most riders choose 10 to 20-minute sessions to get back onto the route or setup camp, although longer sessions (up to 30 minutes) may be available depending on daily demand.
Both can be beneficial. Many riders visit after completing the day’s route to jumpstart recovery, while others stop in before riding to loosen up and prepare for the next stage.
Absolutely. Many riders combine sports massage with compression boots or assisted stretching to maximize their recovery benefits.

Ride the miles.
We’ll handle the recovery.

Thousands of riders will cross Iowa this summer. The difference between feeling strong on the next stage or fighting stiffness is what happens between the rides. Look for the mule.
