This past weekend, the STOIK Body Company team hit the pavement at Market to Market, one of Iowa’s most grueling and iconic relay events.
Relay racing is a unique beast. Between the cumulative miles, the midday heat, and the “van life” stiffness that sets in between legs, athletes weren’t just fighting the clock—they were fighting their own physiology. We set up shop at the Whitten Group exchange point to ensure those bodies stayed in the fight.

What struck us most? The STOIK name is traveling faster than the runners. It’s not about hype; it’s about a shifting mindset. People are realizing that recovery isn’t a “treat”—it’s a tactical requirement for anyone demanding high performance from their body.
The “Relay Wreckage”: What We Treated
Endurance events like Market to Market create a specific map of tension. Our sessions focused on the “Big Six” issues runners faced:
Tight Hips: From explosive climbs and repetitive strides.
Locked-up Calves: The primary victim of Iowa’s rolling hills.
Hamstring Tension: Often exacerbated by the stop-and-start nature of relay legs.
Low Back Stiffness: A byproduct of “Van Neck” and cramped seating between runs.
Neck & Shoulder Strain: Tension from high-stress transitions and lack of sleep.
Foot & Ankle Fatigue: The result of thousands of high-impact repetitions.
